The Next Chapter for Doescher Group: Becoming a Family Business

Over the past seven years, Doescher Group has transformed from an idea in my head into a one-man band and then into a full team.

Today I’m excited to announce we’re expanding even further!

Looking back, it has been quite a ride, to say the least. My team and I have had the honor of advising nearly 200 businesses since inception.

As each day goes by, I’m more and more committed to our mission of “leveling the playing field for self-made business owners”. After years of training, working, and learning on the job from so many brilliant people, it has been the pleasure of my life to turn all of that learning into something that makes a huge difference in the lives of everyday entrepreneurs.

Craig & Tom Doescher

Our business started with “Exit” services, focusing on facilitating great exits for business owners on their terms. In recent years, we’ve added what we call “Evolve” services, which are anchored by our Fractional CFO (“FCFO”) offering, which provides not just better financial reporting, but strategy, analysis, and insights to help business owners achieve their goals along the way.

At this moment, we are serving a wide array of clients–from multi-generational businesses that have been around for over 50 years to startups with no product yet.

As we continue to serve clients more, we recognize new needs and we try to fill them, either by making referrals to our trusted partners, experts in their fields, or by seeing if there’s another creative way we can help them if there isn’t a great solution available through our network. This has resulted in an ever-expanding service offering, as we seek to better serve clients looking to Evolve or Exit their businesses.

Over the years, I’ve benefited from the guidance and wisdom of one of my mentors more than any other, Tom Doescher. Yes, that’s my Dad, who spent his whole career helping build an accounting firm called Plante & Moran. After his retirement over a decade ago, he opened up his own executive coaching business, called Doescher Advisors.

For many years, my Mom, Barbara, and their colleague Claudia McIntyre have coached dozens and dozens of business owners and key business leaders. It can be lonely at the top, and for many, an executive coach can make a big difference.

Tom and I meet monthly to talk business because he is my coach as well as my dad. A few months back, it occurred to me that we’d never discussed the Doescher Advisors succession plan. So, I said to Tom, if you’d like, whenever you’re ready, I’d be happy for you to roll Doescher Advisors into Doescher Group. We serve essentially the same client base, and a lot of our clients and prospects might benefit from your coaching. I said that this would offer him a way to continue coaching as long as he liked without the headache of managing his own IT, website, etc.

He liked the idea so much that as of August 1, 2025, the Doescher Advisors team is now part of Doescher Group. This means that we can now offer executive coaching services we trust to our clients (and more to come) to complement our core Evolve and Exit services.

Left to Right: Tom Doescher, Executive Coach; Sandy Esraeil, Office Administrator; Matt Tokarz, Fractional CFO Consultant; Barbara Doescher, Executive Coach; Craig Doescher, President; Ryan Scheidemantel, Client Manager; Kevin Rogner, CFO; Becca Mowrey, Project Manager; Jordan Schwass, FP&A Consultant; Claudia McIntyre, Fractional COO Consultant

If you’re a current Doescher Group client and you’re interested in adding executive coaching to your support portfolio, just let us know. For current Doescher Advisors executive coaching clients, there is no impact, aside from a change in the company name on the monthly invoice.

We are thrilled to see this come to fruition, as Doescher Group is now a family business! Sort of the backwards way, but a great example of all the creative ways a business can evolve and grow when you put great people and great strategy together.

We’re very excited for the continued growth of Doescher Group. What started as a tiny dream for a different type of career has, over time, become a niche advisory business making a big impact in the lives of our clients.

Speaking on behalf of the entire team, it is our honor to serve our clients, prospects, and trusted partners with our new and expanded services. If you’re thinking about how to evolve or exit your business, we’d love to hear your story.
