CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER CONSULTANT

Brings structure and calm to owner-led finance

Hi, I’m Matt

I grew up with one foot in sports and the other in study halls—I come from a family that prized discipline and effort just as much as grades. Somewhere between the locker room and board tables, I learned that showing up prepared and following through matters more than any amount of flash or flair.

That mix shaped how I work today: show up, listen first, and do what you say you’re going to do.

I’ve been told I bring a calming presence to the room. That’s not an act; it comes from years of listening more than I talk (big, loud Sunday dinners with your huge extended family will do that) and from knowing that steady beats flashy when payroll is due and lenders are calling.

At home, I’m married to Kelly, and together we have a big blended crew of kids and grandkids. I’m happiest when the house is full– fishing, grilling, hunting, or tackling DIY projects.

At Doescher Group, I help owner‑operators turn messy financial signals into clear decisions.

Think: cash clarity, lender‑ready reporting, and a weekly operating rhythm that keeps everyone aligned.

My job is to bring calm, structure, and honest math to moments that feel high‑stakes—so you get to focus on building the business instead of chasing numbers.

When I sit down with an owner, my first priority is making the financials simple and accurate, so leaders actually use them.

From there, I work with teams to build a weekly management rhythm that keeps everyone aligned and focused on what matters.

At the core, I believe in doing what we say, keeping words and actions consistent, and valuing cadence over chaos.

I hold myself and others to high standards, but always with respect. And if something isn’t right, we fix it—no excuses.

Those principles have carried me through hard times and are what I bring to every client engagement.

Early in my career, I helped run accounting and finance inside one of my dad’s companies.

He was firm but fair and treated people at every level with respect—that stuck.

Later, I co‑owned a manufacturing company. We ran it with common‑sense rigor: weekly meetings, clear goals, continuous improvement. When the 2008 downturn hit, we had to close. It was brutal—and it taught me to face facts fast, communicate clearly, and rebuild with integrity.

Respect. Structure. Facing reality. Persistence.

These are the values that have stuck with me throughout my life and career.

They’re how I was raised, how I live my life, how I lead, and how I help clients build businesses that last.
